I got stood up by a Craigslist seller today. 35-mile round trip, 30 minutes sitting there, $5 in gasoline. Then the guy called me back later on and I realized that Dude has issues, so whatevs. Nice drive in the Mazda 3 with Missus.

Yeah. Had a guy agree to meet in a parking lot to sell the Grom. Was sitting around for half an hour and left when it looked like it was about to rain. Like, I get it if you changed your mind, just tell me so I don't get the cops called on me....

Bah. Craigslist is a haven for flakes. I’ve had some of the best deals of my life on there, but the sheer number of idiots, time wasters, and criminals makes it certifiably sketchy these days.

Right. Seldom happens to me, but this time, this guy has issues. I bought an iPod from a lady once. She handed me the iPod and I handed her the money and thanked her and went home and the jack on the iPod was messed up. It would be easy to have an ethnic moment, but I’m just having a how-do-you-look-someone-in-the-eye-and-cheat-them? moment.

I usually do pretty well; I have a good CL filter. Like I said in the post, this guy isn’t wrapped too tight, so I’m not mad. In retrospect, I should have suspected.

Yes, but not intentionally, right? I mean, people make mistakes. This guy was confused in a fundamental way.

No it’s actually a funny story.
I had a guy text me one Monday about the car. After some texts back and forth, I told him I could meet at the local BP anytime after 5 pm. Never heard another word.
Tuesday I get a call from a guy about 1.5 hrs away, he wants to come look. Says he can be to the local BP at 5:15.
So I show up at BP at 5:15, a guy meets me, test drives it, hands me cash, and drives away.
Around 7:15 I get a call from the guy who was supposed to be coming, says he’s about 45 mins away.
I say what are you talking about, you just picked it up 2 hrs ago?
He says he just left work 30 mins ago headed to me.
I then asked him who the F*&^ just bought the car 2 hrs ago then........
Turns out it was the guy that text me Monday, he had never said anything back, just showed up at BP Tuesday assuming I would be there.

This is a great story. It wasn’t a guy from Massachusetts was it? I know a guy who has a barn full of ‘66 Skylarks.

Nope, WI.
One guy was from the Jefferson area (the buyer), the other was from Milwaukee.
